When working with a horse here at Hoof-Haven, we employ a largely diverse training program. I prefer to use a large combination of different training methods. Horses are like people, they are all very different. They all learn differently, and at different speeds. In my opinion it is impossible to use the same game plan on every horse. My main goals when training are to produce a horse that is respectful and responsive. A horse that posesses these qualities will be a pleasure to own and ride.
I can provide training for a variety of disciplines, whether you are pleasure riding or competing. I can offer colt starting, finishing work, tune ups, or change of discipline training.
Problem Horses, older horses to be started or animals that are not halter broke and handleable are excepted only on a case by case basis, and may be subject to additional charge.
Except for Special Circumstances I require a minimum of 30 days training on started horses, and 60 days training on anything to be started. It takes some time to get to know the horse as well as correct bad habits and instill new ones. Training is not an instantaneous process so please be reasonable with your expectations! By taking time to teach it keeps your horse safe, sound and happy ... and the same goes for me!
After your horse is trained is is preferable if you can take some time to spend with me upon pick up so I can show you how your horse has been trained and how to keep him or her going top notch! I am always available for follow up lessons, or for any questions you might have!
I can also provide some tune up work, PR, and advertising if you have a horse for sale. Please see the sales page for complete details!
Training is based on thirty day intervals (monthly) and I guarantee a minimum of 25 works on the horse. Horses are brought in to be worked 6 days a week, with one day of rest. If for any reason something prevents me from working your horses, such as show or illness, they will stay on at Hoof-Haven for no additional boarding or training charge until the required time has been put in.
