For the kids who want the ultimate experience! Can' t get enough horse into your day? Bored and getting into trouble on summer vaccation? Want to make some new friends and learn some cool new things?
Camps will be run Monday-Friday starting in July, and continuing throughout the summer vaccation. Camps are available to youths aged 8 years and up. No riding experience necessary! You can learn it all here, or improve the horsey skills you already have!
Camps include various different riding activities both horsey, and non-horsey related. There will be two riding lessons each day, one in the morning, and another again in the evening.
At camp you may bring your own horse, or you will receive a lesson horse for the week! You will be responsible for the care and feeding of your horse for the duration of camp. Each day your horse must be fed, groomed, tacked up, ridden, and turned out for the day! Then, later on, your horse must be brought in from pasture, groomed, tacked and ridden again before being fed and put away for the evening.
Each lesson Horse at Hoof-Haven has an information scrap book! This has facts about the horse's breed, registration if they have one, history, age, color and much more! Each student is provided with a space to add to the horses scrap book where you can add notes about what you learned or did with your horse during the week! If you bring your own horse, you will be able to start your own scrapbook!
Each student will also have a research topic to complete while they are at camp. Information will be provided in books and magazines. You will have time to look through them, and collect information on an important horsey subject!
You will also get to watch some great horsey videos, both learning, and strictly for entertainment! For both, Comfy PJ's , popcorn and giggles are strongly encouraged!! Just remember to pay attention, a test could follow!!
All efforts at Hoof-Haven's youth camps are rewarded! Its not about how well you do, here its about how hard you try! For doing your best, and giving things a good effort whether it be around the barn yard, or in your riding lessons, you will be awarded "credits". At the end of camp, you can cash in your "credits" at the "store" for different kinds of prizes! If you so choose, you can take on extra work projects around the farm for even more credits!
Everyone will also be allowed FREE TIME . During free time you may listen to music, watch a movie, read a book, have a nap, or just visit with friends. If you wish to bring your own personal game unit, or Ipod or movies to watch, you may, but remember your belongings are you responsibility!
At the end of the week, we will say goodbye with a fun presentation! All the students together will get to design a program of their choosing! A show, a musical ride, gymkhana games...the possibilities are endless! Parents, Grandparents, Friends and Family are invited to watch!
Camp is all about having fun, and making new friends and memories! Each camper will receive a T-shirt, as well as a CD filled with digital pictures to keep the memories fresh, and share them with other people.
